MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Vietnamese President To Lam said on Wednesday that he considered Russian President Vladimir Putin to be a great friend and a brother of the Vietnamese people. «Dear Comrade Vladimir Putin, I am very pleased to meet with you. You are our great friend, a close brother to the Vietnamese people, and a comrade with whom I share a special personal bond,» To Lam said at the start of their meeting in the Kremlin. The Vietnamese leader, who arrived in Russia on a state visit on Monday, said he expected Russia to hold safe and successful parliamentary elections next week. «I am convinced that, under the clear, resolute, and wise leadership of Comrade President, Russia will safely and successfully hold the elections to the State Duma of the ninth convocation and the upcoming local elections, which will give new impetus to the development of stability and prosperity in Russia,» To Lam said during the talks.
