Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, 16 March 2020
Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, urged neighboring and friendly countries not to join Washington’s economic war against Iran, IRNA reported. He warned that if countries side with the US economic siege and harm Iran’s interests, Iran will not allow oil to leave the Persian Gulf.
“Oil will leave neither through the Strait of Hormuz nor the Persian Gulf,” he stressed.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and will not reopen unless the US changes its behavior and acts on its commitments.
The major general added that Iran and Oman have agreed on a middle shipping route through the strait, but a joint statement is not yet ready.
