Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, 16 March 2020

US President Donald Trump’s war of aggression against Iran has placed a heavy debt burden not only on the American people, but also on US allies such as Japan, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told IRNA.“He came with the campaign slogan ‘Make America great again,’ but what has he made great? He has made their debts great,” Rezaei stressed. The US now has to borrow at a rate 3.7 times higher than in 2020, meaning an additional $3.7 billion in annual costs for every $100 billion of debt, the major general highlighted.

He also pointed to Japan, saying the rise in its 10-year bond yield to around 3% marks the end of the US “free ride.”“For Tokyo, this means higher debt costs, and for Washington, it means the end of the free ride and the arrival of the bill,” Rezaei said.US-Israel War on IranIran Warns Neighboring Countries ‘Not to Align With America in Any Way’04:42 GMT
