BEIJING (Sputnik) — Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. «Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek on August 30-September 3, and will also pay state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt,» the statement said.As part of this trip, he will also pay state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt.Xi plans to discuss international and regional agendas with the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states during the upcoming SCO summit in Bishkek, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Wednesday.»During this year’s summit in Bishkek, Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold an in-depth exchange of views with the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states on deepening cooperation across various fields within the framework of the organization under new conditions, as well as on major international and regional issues,» Lin told a briefing.The Chinese leader, together with heads of state from other countries, will formulate a plan and measures to ensure high-quality development of the SCO, as well as the organization’s involvement in reforming and building the global governance system, the diplomat added.Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which will be held in Bishkek.The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. It is made up of Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Its partner countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, Laos, the Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
