SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been operating on backup power from diesel generators for three days in a row due to a lack of external power supply, ZNPP communications director Yevgenia Yashina told Sputnik on Saturday. On Thursday, the plant said that it switched to backup power supply from diesel generators due to loss of external power supply. The ZNPP’s high-voltage external power supply Ferrosplavnaya-1 line was damaged and thus shut down by the automation system. The damage site is located on the territory controlled by Ukraine. «The situation at the station is under control. The ZNPP has been operating on backup power from diesel generators since August 20. External power supply has not yet been restored,» Yashina said. The diesel generators are operating normally, and the staff is constantly monitoring all parameters and ensuring the reliable operation of the station’s systems, she added.Russia’s Special Operation in UkraineIAEA Notifies of Ukrainian Attack Injuring Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant On-Duty Employees12 August, 07:26 GMT
